Stephen T. Kong is a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Los Angeles and Silicon Valley offices. Mr. Kong has extensive experience with technology transactions, intellectual property licensing, content and media transactions, the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and open source software counseling.
Mr. Kong has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including enterprise software, e-commerce, consumer electronics, retail and apparel. In addition, Mr. Kong has extensive experience working with private equity firms in their transactions.
Mr. Kong previously served as senior corporate counsel for Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (Sony PlayStation). While at Sony, he represented the U.S. R&D and strategic business development groups for the Sony entity responsible for PlayStation matters in North and Latin America. Mr. Kong also worked in software development as a civilian for the U.S. Marine Corps before attending law school.
Before joining Pepper, Mr. Kong was a shareholder at Stradling, where he served as chair of the firm’s technology transactions practice group.
