Samuel J. Abate, Jr. is a partner in the Health Sciences Department of Pepper Hamilton LLP in the New York office. He has thirty five years' experience representing clients in complex pharmaceutical and medical device product liability matters. Mr. Abate is a member of the firm’s Professional Responsibility and e-Discovery committees.
Mr. Abate focuses his practice in civil litigation, with an emphasis on the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device companies in matters involving marketed products and medical devices.
Mr. Abate is a member of local, state and national bar associations and the Defense Research Institute, where he serves on the Drug and Medical Device webinar committee. Mr. Abate volunteers at the Attorney for a Day Program at the Westchester Supreme Court, he has been active in various civic groups and served as Mayor of the Village of Ardsley in Westchester County, NY. In 2018, he was awarded Pepper Hamilton’s William R. Klaus Pro Bono Award, which recognizes a Pepper lawyer who has demonstrated an outstanding achievement for a pro bono client, a sustained record of pro bono service over time, and/or a record of inspiring others at the firm to do pro bono work.
