René M.L. Hansemann is a partner in the Detroit office of Pepper Hamilton LLP, concentrating in domestic and international corporate transactions and real estate matters.

Ms. Hansemann represents buyers and sellers in acquisitions and restructurings; commercial entities in the full range of general commercial matters; borrowers and lenders in financing transactions; buyers and sellers in real property transactions, including property belonging to debtors in bankruptcy; landlords and tenants in a variety of commercial leaseholds; and public companies, assisting them with their general reporting requirements and employee stock ownership plans. She is experienced in the private placement of securities, representing issuers and investors. She also has litigation experience and she works daily with automotive suppliers and their intellectual property licenses and privacy and security regulatory issues.

Ms. Hansemann serves as general counsel to an intellectual property-based, international company that supplies services and products to the automotive industry, and to several development-stage companies. Her international work includes transactions in England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Scotland, Japan, Malaysia, China, Thailand, India, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Canada and Russia.

Ms. Hansemann joined the firm in September 1988. Ms. Hansemann is a member of the Michigan bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She is a past director of the Southeast Michigan Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, a member of the American Bar Association and a past chair of the Business Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association.
