Mitchell L. Guc is an associate in the Environment and Energy Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Detroit office. Mr. Guc's practice focuses on environmental and energy law in the context of litigation, regulatory matters and client counseling. Frequently, Mr. Guc handles matters involving the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clear Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), as well as their state law equivalents.
Prior to joining Pepper, Mr. Guc worked as an associate at a regional law firm headquartered in Ohio. There, he focused on environmental, natural resources, public law and solid waste management matters. His practice included transactional, regulatory and litigation work, including environmental citizen suit defense under the CWA.
Before attending law school, Mr. Guc worked for a Michigan-based environmental consulting firm as a project manager, focusing on Michigan’s wetlands, lakes and streams permitting programs. Before that, he gained valuable regulatory experience as an intern with the Water Resources Division of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE, then known as the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality).
Currently, Mr. Guc serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the Emerging Leaders Initiative for the Environmental Law Institute (ELI-ELI). ELI-ELI aims to connect, support and foster dialogue among the next generation of rising stars in environmental law and policy.
