Brett A. Dorman (CIPP/US) is an associate in the Health Sciences Department, resident in the Orange County office of Pepper Hamilton LLP. Mr. Dorman handles matters for health sciences clients involving patent licensing, contract management and privacy program management, and he has extensive knowledge of privacy regulations, particularly the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Mr. Dorman has extensive experience in-house, both supporting and developing legal workflows. In particular, he has assisted in the creation of contract templates and built the associated request and review procedures for company transactions; assisted in the development of contract databases; and, negotiated and drafted a wide variety of contracts, including general transaction agreements (NDAs, consultant agreements, etc.), IP licensing and acquisition contracts, end user license agreements, distribution agreements, and data processing agreements/addendums.
Mr. Dorman is also certified as an information privacy professional in U.S. privacy law (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and obtained a concentration at Loyola Law School in data privacy and cybersecurity. During law school, he worked full time as the director of privacy and legal operations lead for an augmented reality hardware and software provider. Mr. Dorman has experience building comprehensive privacy programs from the ground up, including the underlying data-mapping necessary to identify all data collection points, and the creation of policies that guide clients’ best practices.
