Ashanti M. Crawford is a discovery attorney with Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office. Ms. Crawford has worked on a wide range of matters, including complex multidistrict litigations; government, higher education, and internal corporate investigations; and state and federal court proceedings involving products liability, Title IX, breach of contract, securities and breach of fiduciary duty claims.
As a discovery attorney, Ms. Crawford performs a variety of functions to reduce litigation costs and improve the quality of legal services delivered. For instance, she leverages modern e-discovery technologies to efficiently perform responsiveness, privilege, confidentiality and issue reviews. Thereafter, Ms. Crawford conducts targeted searches to identify key documents needed for motion practice and deposition preparation; she also prepares privilege logs, witness preparation materials and detailed background chronologies.
Prior to joining Pepper, Ms. Crawford was an associate at White and Williams LLP, where she worked in the general commercial litigation practice group. Ms. Crawford worked on three complex commercial litigation matters resulting in jury verdicts totaling $4.275 million, two of which included awards of punitive damages. In 2013, she was recognized as a “Pennsylvania Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.
Ms. Crawford is heavily invested in community involvement. She is on the board of advisors for the Villanova Law Alumni Association and is an associate member of the J. Willard O’Brien American Inn of Court. Further, since 2015, she has regularly mentored others through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pennsylvania, PhilaReads and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Success in Law School Mentoring Program.
