Angelo A. Stio, III is a partner in and vice chair of Pepper Hamilton LLP’s Trial and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Mr. Stio also is a member of the firm’s Higher Education Practice Group, which focuses on counseling and representing universities, colleges and prep schools. Mr. Stio is a seasoned trial attorney who has litigated and arbitrated in courts and before arbitration panels throughout the United States. Mr. Stio helps clients achieve their litigation goals through the development of a factual record and the effective presentation of arguments through motion practice and trial advocacy.
Mr. Stio brings a unique perspective to his higher education clients. Before graduating from law school, Mr. Stio worked as a university administrator, where he gained a deep understanding of the culture of higher education institutions, the importance of revenue-generating activities, and the diverse legal challenges that higher education institutions face on a daily basis.
Outside the courtroom, Mr. Stio regularly assists higher education clients in investigating sexual assault claims and counsels clients on student conduct issues and compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other federal and state privacy laws.
Mr. Stio graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law and is a former clerk for the Honorable Robert Muir, Jr., a former presiding judge of the New Jersey Appellate Division. He is resident in the firm’s New Jersey and New York offices.
