Angelo A. Stio, III is a partner in and vice chair of Pepper Hamilton LLP’s Trial and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Mr. Stio is a seasoned trial attorney who has litigated and arbitrated in courts and before arbitration panels throughout the United States. Mr. Stio helps clients achieve their litigation goals through the development of a factual record and the effective presentation of arguments through motion practice and trial advocacy. Mr. Stio’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes involving class actions and derivative suits, banking and financial services issues, and higher education law.
Some of Mr. Stio’s recent engagements include defending a publicly traded company in a class action arising from a data breach, defending a client in a shareholder class action alleging violations of Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10(b)(5), representing a client in the pursuit of claims under the terms of a manufacturing and sales agreement and Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code, and defending hedge fund clients against claims asserted by limited partners.
During the course of his career, Mr. Stio also has developed a deep understanding of federal and state laws related to data privacy and security. Mr. Stio is a co-chair of the New Jersey Bar Association Privacy Law Committee and is designated as a Certified Information Privacy Professional on U.S. laws (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Mr. Stio graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law and is a former clerk for the Honorable Robert Muir, Jr., a former presiding judge of the New Jersey Appellate Division. He is resident in the firm’s New Jersey and New York offices.
