A. Michael Pratt is a partner in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg offices of Pepper Hamilton LLP, and a member of the firm’s Trial and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He is a past chancellor of the 15,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association and a past member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Pratt has broad litigation experience in both federal and state courts, and counsels clients in a wide range of legal areas. Mr. Pratt concentrates his practice in complex commercial, product liability and toxic tort litigation, with experience representing industrial and product manufacturers, financial institutions, drug and medical device companies, insurance companies, and medical and government institutions.
Mr. Pratt has spent most of his legal career at Pepper, except for two short stints serving as chief deputy city solicitor in charge of the commercial litigation division for the City of Philadelphia Law Department (1992 to mid-1994); and as chief litigation counsel for corporate and toxic tort matters for Honeywell International Inc. (2002 to mid-2003). At Honeywell, Mr. Pratt managed and coordinated the strategic and tactical defense of all of the company’s active nationwide asbestos liability, several securities class actions, insurance coverage and other commercial disputes.
In 2009, Mr. Pratt was appointed by the governor of Pennsylvania as one of the five commissioners to lead the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, where he served six years as a commissioner, four of those as its vice chairman. He has held numerous other bar association, civic and community leadership positions, and received many honors and awards from professional and community organizations.
