Pepper Hamilton Shortlisted for Latin Lawyer's Deal of the Year Awards
Pepper Hamilton’s Construction Practice Group has been recognized by Latin Lawyer for the firm’s role as construction counsel to Strabag SpA, the Chilean subsidiary of the Austrian construction firm Strabag SE, in connection with the second restructuring of the Alto Maipo hydroelectric power project near Santiago, Chile. As part of the restructuring, Pepper Hamilton’s attorneys assisted Strabag SpA in negotiating a nearly USD 2 billion amended and restated construction contract, as well as certain aspects of the amended project financing documents.
The Alto Maipo second restructuring is one of three deals shortlisted by Latin Lawyer for the Deal of the Year Award in the restructuring category. The awards recognize law firms and general counsel who have advised clients in connection with the most significant deals of the year across Latin America. Among the various considerations, winners are chosen based on deal value, time frame, complexity, legal creativity shown, political and regulatory sensitivity, and number of jurisdictions to which the deal relates.
The Pepper team was led by partner Albert Bates, Jr. and also included partners Robert S. Hertzberg and Robert A. Gallagher and associate R. Zachary Torres-Fowler.
Latin Lawyer’s 13th annual Deal of the Year Awards will be presented at a ceremony held in São Paulo, Brazil on April 10.
