Pepper Hamilton LLP Advises Hanover Healthcare PLUS on Affiliation with UPMC Pinnacle
In the latest in a wave of hospital mergers and affiliations in Pennsylvania, Hanover Healthcare PLUS, the parent company of Hanover Hospital, affiliated with the newly formed UPMC Pinnacle on September 1, 2017. Pepper Hamilton LLP represented Hanover in the transaction.
Hanover Healthcare PLUS is a community health care network in Hanover, PA, that includes Hanover Hospital, a 93-bed general medical and surgical hospital. The health care network has more than 1,400 employees. PinnacleHealth also acquired Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Heart of Lancaster, Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Memorial Hospital of York in July 2017.
On September 1, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a cutting-edge academic medical center and one of the most highly rated hospital and health care networks in the nation, and PinnacleHealth announced their affiliation into the new UPMC Pinnacle, and on the same day announced the Hanover affiliation with UPMC Pinnacle. UPMC Pinnacle now has more than 2,600 physicians and allied health professionals, and approximately 9,000 employees serve a 10-county area at outpatient facilities and eight acute care hospitals with more than 1,300 licensed beds.
