Pepper Hamilton and Hispanic Bar Association Combine Ethics and Sports at Unique Event
Pepper Hamilton and the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania co-hosted an event that allowed attendees to earn CLE credit while also enjoying an evening of Philadelphia Flyers hockey.
The unique networking event began with a presentation on "Ethics in Transactional Negotiations," which covered ethical considerations in mergers, acquisitions and commercial transactions, among other topics. Daniel La Luz — counsel, general operations, at Comcast Cable and board member for the Hispanic Bar Association — moderated the discussion. Panelists included Pepper Hamilton attorneys Joseph F. Kadlec and Jessica Kozlov Davis; Carlos Montoya, recently the senior vice president/general counsel for the Philadelphia 76ers; and Barry Hanrahan, assistant general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Following the substantive discussion, attendees enjoyed a networking reception while watching the Flyers take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Attendees at the reception included Flyers announcer Lou Nolan and former players Bob Kelly and Brian Propp.
The event followed similar successful programs from the Hispanic Bar Association in conjunction with Philadelphia 76ers and Phillies games. The Flyers event was the first time Pepper served as official co-host.
“This event was a long time in the making and pulled together great efforts by the Board of the HBA, especially Dan La Luz, the Flyers and Pepper’s Diversity Committee and Corporate & Securities practice group,” Mr. Kadlec said. “It was a special opportunity to share a lifelong relationship with the Flyers with so many talented colleagues, clients and contemporaries, and continue our longstanding relationship with the HBA.”
