Matthew H. Adler Quoted in Law360 Article, '3 Tips for Setting Aside an International Arbitration Award'
Matthew H. Adler, chair of Pepper's International and Domestic Arbitration Practice Group and a co-chair of the firm's Commercial Litigation Practice Group, was quoted in the February 11, 2016 Law360 article, "3 Tips for Setting Aside an International Arbitration Award."
Matt Adler of Pepper Hamilton LLP said hearings were an area that could bolster a challenge. Adler cautioned that it's often very hard to find a procedural defect in arbitration proceedings but added that alleged conflicts of
interest involving arbitrators stood out as another potential point to challenge.
"One difficulty is that most savvy international arbitrators know the [New York Convention]. It's not at all surprising that they are going to be careful to be sure they don't commit a violation," Adler said.
"Most international arbitrators of any merit and reputation are very careful to run a tight procedural ship."
