Hyung P. Steele Elected to Board of Directors of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia
Hyung P. Steele of Pepper Hamilton has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization to which individuals and organizations turn to address laws, policies and practices that perpetuate discrimination, inequality and poverty. The Law Center's clients are people with disabilities, racial and ethnic minorities, low-income individuals and communities, formerly incarcerated people, and the advocacy organizations that represent them in the Philadelphia region.
The Law Center is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of prominent civic leaders drawn from law firms, the business community, and advocacy organizations. The Board oversees the operations and finances of the Law Center, and it is an essential partner with the staff in raising funds and public awareness of the Law Center and its projects. A committee of the board reviews potential cases to ensure that they are in the public interest and are consistent with the Law Center's mission.
Mr. Steele is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department of Pepper Hamilton, resident in the Philadelphia office. He is a member of the Health Effects Litigation Practice Group and the Food and Beverage Industry Group, and serves on the firm's Associates Committee, Diversity Committee and Information Governance Committee. Mr. Steele has a varied practice in state and federal courts throughout the country with a focus on defending pharmaceutical and medical device clients across a range of matters including multi-district personal injury litigation, and civil and criminal investigations by federal and state authorities.
