Howard J. Shire Quoted in Law360 Article, 'LeBron Can't Get 'Taco Tuesday' Trademark Registration'
Howard J. Shire, a partner in the Intellectual Property Department of Pepper Hamilton, is quoted in the September 11, Law360 article "LeBron Can't Get 'Taco Tuesday' Trademark Registration."
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is refusing to grant NBA star LeBron James a trademark registration for “Taco Tuesday,” calling it a “commonplace term” that cannot be locked up by one person.
An attorney for James told Law360 on Wednesday that the star was only seeking the registration to protect himself from possible lawsuits by others who claim ownership of "Taco Tuesday."
"He’s not trying to stop anyone else from using this," said Howard J. Shire of Pepper Hamilton.
James and his LBJ Trademarks LLC are represented by Howard J. Shire of Pepper Hamilton.
