This issue of Pepper’s Diversity Matters newsletter focuses on recent events and on some of the individual journeys of our attorneys. For Pepper, diversity is not only a part of our business, it’s personal.
A group of our associates started a nonprofit organization to provide books to impoverished children in Third-World countries; a team of Pepper attorneys connected personally with individuals involved in the South Philadelphia High School racial incident; and a Pepper alum reflects on how welcomed he felt at Pepper as an openly gay associate. Our Boston attorneys have worked to make life better for the Haitian community and our Harrisburg attorneys have played a role in a “pipeline initiative” to provide opportunity to diverse law students.
As we go to press, Pepper will host its sixth annual Celebrate Diversity event. This year, Thomas L. Sager, vice president and general counsel of DuPont, will be presented with Pepper’s 2011 Champion of Diversity Award. We are proud to recognize Mr. Sager and all our attorneys who have taken the business of diversity and made it personal.
