Ryan F. Helmrich is an associate in the Financial Services Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office. Mr. Helmrich’s practice includes a broad range of investment management matters involving mutual funds, closed-end funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs) and investment advisers. He also advises financial institutions on structuring, negotiating and implementing their domestic and global custody, collateral, derivatives-trading and related servicing arrangements, as well as other matters affecting their domestic and offshore asset-servicing activities.
Mr. Helmrich has handled matters involving the registration, distribution and reorganization of mutual funds and ETFs. He regularly counsels investment advisers on regulatory issues, including registration and interpretive guidance, new product development and regulatory examinations. Mr. Helmrich has also assisted private fund sponsors with investment adviser registration, fund formation, advertising and ongoing regulatory compliance. He has advised clients conducting internal compliance audits, and has extensive experience in assisting investment company complexes and investment advisers in developing and maintaining compliance programs.
Mr. Helmrich maintains an active pro bono practice, and as a member of the firm's pro bono Adjustment of Status Clinic practice group, he assists refugees and asylum-seekers in obtaining permanent legal residence.
Prior to joining Pepper, Mr. Helmrich was an associate with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he was a member of the investment management practice group. Mr. Helmrich also previously served as director and assistant general counsel with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he advised the chief investment office and global wealth management divisions, focusing on mutual fund and alternative investment product origination, governance, management and distribution.
