Robert E. Fay is an associate with Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office. Mr. Fay concentrates his practice in white collar defense. His practice spans a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical companies, health care consultancies, technology companies, insurers and government contractors. Mr. Fay has experience conducting internal investigations, particularly in cases involving allegations of financial fraud or accounting irregularities.
Mr. Fay served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division in Washington, where he litigated complex tax controversies and obtained injunctions against fraudulent tax return preparers and individuals promoting tax fraud schemes.
Mr. Fay maintains an active pro bono practice. In July 2014, he argued a case to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania challenging an unconstitutional deprivation of process in a state court divorce proceeding. More recently, Mr. Fay received The William R. Klaus Pro Bono Award from Pepper Hamilton for his work in obtaining a settlement for the family of a minor child who was seized and held without due process by the Detroit police department.
