Richard M. Schwartz is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Pepper Hamilton LLP, concentrating on trust, estate and business succession planning. He represents owners of closely held businesses, executives, and families of significant wealth. Mr. Schwartz counsels clients on complex matters involving income, estate, gift, and generation skipping transfer taxes, estate and trust administration, and general family and business issues. He also works with clients and their other advisors to implement sophisticated estate planning techniques.
Mr. Schwartz is the current president of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, one of the largest and oldest interdisciplinary organizations for professionals involved in estate planning in the country.
Mr. Schwartz is a co-author of the three-volume treatise previously authored by Robert J. Weinberg, Esq. titled Estate Planning and Drafting. He also prepares the current supplements and revisions to Hunter’s Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court Commonplace Book, which is used as a reference by Orphans’ Court practitioners throughout Pennsylvania.
