Charles F. Koch is an associate in the Intellectual Property Department of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Silicon Valley office.
Mr. Koch focuses his practice on patent litigation and other intellectual property matters before district and appellate courts throughout the United States, the International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Koch also advises clients on matters regarding patent procurement, patent opinion (including freedom to operate, non-infringement, invalidity, patentability), IP due diligence, and patent licensing. Mr. Koch is experienced in a wide range of hardware and software technologies, including artificial intelligence, internet advertising, e-commerce, data compression, DVD authoring, fiber optics, semiconductor processing, circuit design, nanotechnology, and telecommunications.
Prior to joining Pepper, Mr. Koch was an associate with Goodwin Procter and before that was an associate at Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP.
Mr. Koch also served as an assistant district attorney with the city and county of San Francisco, where he was lead trial counsel for numerous jury and bench trials.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Koch worked for more than seven years as an engineer and engineering team leader at Alcatel U.S.A. (now Alcatel-Lucent), where his responsibilities included the design and manufacture of fiber optic telecommunications systems.
