Ashley Brzezinski, Ph.D. is an associate in the Health Sciences Department and the Intellectual Property Transactions and Rights Management Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Boston office.

Dr. Brzezinski focuses her practice on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in various fields, including bioinformatics, signal and image processing applications, computer systems, computer software, machine learning, imaging software and related applications, control systems, mechanical devices, medical devices, telecommunications and networking, materials science, integrated circuit design, semiconductor devices and applications, and optics.

Dr. Brzezinski received her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.  Her research background includes Optical Projection Tomography in life sciences, inverse imaging problems, including medical imaging, subsurface object detection and identification problems, as well as communication problems, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and ultra-wide band (UWB).

While in graduate school, Dr. Brzezinski was a research intern at a major research lab, where she worked on various projects, such as construction of M-QAM signals utilizing Q-PSK Golay sequences for OFDM systems.  Dr. Brzezinski’s research on time hopping sequence for narrowband interference suppression has been the subject of two U.S. patents, namely U.S. Patent No.  8,406,278 and U.S. Patent No. 8,687,672.

After completing her Ph.D., Dr. Brzezinski was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Bioinformatics of the department of Radiology of Brigham and Women’s Hospital-Harvard Medical School.  During her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Brzezinski worked on developing computational algorithms that aid diagnosis, therapy, prognosis, repair and prevention of neurodegenerative diseases and related disorders. 

Dr. Brzezinski’s research has been published in several peer-reviewed publications,  including IEEE Trans. on Communication, Radio Science, IEEE Trans. on Geoscience & Remote Sensing, NeuroImage, BMC Cell Biology and Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics.

While in law school, Dr. Brzezinski concentrated on Intellectual Property Law.  She won first place in the Boston Patent Law Association’s 2016 Annual Writing Competition for her article titled “Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA) and the Protection of Digital Embodiments of Artworks.”
