Alva C. Mather is a partner in the Health Sciences Department of Pepper Hamilton LLP, resident in the Philadelphia office. She is chair of the firm’s Alcoholic Beverage Industry Practice Group and co-chair of the Food and Beverage Industry Practice Group. Ms. Mather is a business lawyer, litigator and first-chair trial attorney with more than a decade of experience representing clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Mather has developed a particular focus on matters involving institutes of higher education. Ms. Mather regularly represents educational institutions in matters regarding litigation, compliance, and/or government investigations involving Title IX and other federal laws, student conduct matters, faculty relations, alcohol sales on campus and civil tort claims, including student death and abuse matters on campus. Ms. Mather regularly conducts Title IX and other federal law training sessions for higher education clients and provides guidance and advice on developing Title IX, student conduct and alcohol-based polices.
