Initial coin offerings (ICOs) have raised more investor capital than venture and angel investing combined since the beginning of 2017. However, companies interested in participating in an ICO have a host of things to consider – structuring and categorizing a token or coin offering, potential risks and regulatory issues, complying with applicable securities and regulatory laws, and investor opportunities and challenges.
To address the full spectrum of initial coin offerings, including the potential advantages, challenges and regulatory considerations, Pepper Hamilton will host two events to drill deep into the topic.
Gregory Nowak, partner and practice leader for hedge funds in the firm’s Funds Services Practice Group, will host the first event, Investment Management and Hedge Funds: What's Happening Now?, on Tuesday, October 24th, from 5:00-7:00 PM. This event will discuss ICO issues affecting the institutional investor community.
On Thursday, October 26th, from 5:00-7:00 PM, Nowak will be joined by Robert Friedel, Joseph Guagliardo and Todd Kornfeld of Pepper’s Blockchain Technology practice to host Tech Meetup: The ABCs of ICOs. This panel discussion will delve deeper into the topic to address categorizing ICOs, how they operate, potential risks and issues, and more.
Both events will take place at Pepper Hamilton’s New York office (New York Times Building, 620 Eighth Avenue, 37th Floor, New York, NY 10018-1405).
