Pepper Hamilton’s women’s group hosted more than 150 attorneys, clients and friends of the firm at Boyd’s on November 6 to support a good cause, celebrate the firm’s newly restructured women’s initiative (WIN!), and network, while enjoying food and wine and observing the latest trends in fashion.
Maria A. Feeley, the chair of WIN!, welcomed the guests and explained that “when we were planning this event, we knew we wanted to partner with an organization that had a similar spirit and mission as WIN! - to recruit, retain and promote our female talent and provide them with tools they need to succeed in a profession that has been historically dominated by men. When Nina Gussack suggested Dress for Success, whose mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing them with a network of support and career development tools so that they can succeed in their careers, we knew it was a perfect fit.”
WIN! then engaged female associates in multiple Pepper offices to lead clothing drives collecting suits, shoes and accessories for donation and to host denim days in support of Dress for Success. Pepper also made a donation to Dress for Success on behalf of each guest who attended the event.
Dress for Success Philadelphia Executive Director Barbara J. Silzle thanked the attendees for their support of her organization, saying, “This is how the world changes. One woman at a time. If you help a woman get a job, she can feed her family, and our whole community is strengthened.”
“Boyds is a beautiful and historic space that we thought would be a unique venue, and attractive to clients who are often invited to events held in more traditional venues, like hotel ballrooms or restaurants,” said Feeley. “The event’s fashion backdrop was an added bonus as many women are leaders in the $1 trillion+ global fashion industry, and Pepper represents a number of clients in the industry.”
Clients attending the event appreciated not only the fashion advice, but the opportunity to help Dress for Success in its mission, as well as networking with other professional women.
