With venture capital firms investing more than $61 billion in completed deals this year, VC spending is set to be the highest it’s been in the U.S. since the turn of the millennium. Industries from health care to cannabis to cleantech are evolving rapidly, keeping startup entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists on their toes.
According to VentureSource, Pepper Hamilton is a top 10 firm in providing counsel to Eastern U.S. technology and life sciences companies receiving VC financing from 2008 to 2016. The firm has been involved in more than 250 venture financings, totaling almost $2 billion in the last five years. To provide timely industry expertise and highlight the current issues facing both investors and startup leaders, Steven R. London, partner in the Health Sciences Department at Pepper Hamilton and a member of the firm’s Corporate and Securities Practice Group, will be a featured speaker at the 12th annual 2017 New England Venture Summit.
The summit, which will take place on December 6, connects venture capitalists, corporate VCs, and angel investors with technology transfer professionals, senior executives of early stage and emerging growth companies, university researchers, incubators and premier service providers. Pepper will continue its support of the New England Venture Summit as a Coaching Sponsor this year.
With more than 100 VCs confirmed to attend, the full-day Venture Capital Summit will host panels with industry experts like London, company presentations from some of the most exciting emerging growth innovators, and high-level networking events with potential partners, investors and startups.
A number of Pepper attorneys will be on site during the Coaching Session, which takes place the day before, to provide feedback to the participating companies as they practice their pitches before the main summit.
The summit will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Lombardo’s Conference Center in Boston (6 Billings Street, Randolph, MA, 02368).
