Pepper Hamilton Partner Appointed Chair of the Bankruptcy Court Structure and Insolvency Process Committee
Kay Standridge Kress, a corporate restructuring and bankruptcy partner with Pepper Hamilton’s Detroit office, has been appointed Chair of the Bankruptcy Court Structure and Insolvency Process Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section for the 2017-2020 term.
In Ms. Kress’ role, she will provide assistance on proposals pertaining to bankruptcy court jurisdiction and proposed rules and legislation affecting the bankruptcy system.
“It is an honor to have been appointed to this leadership role within the Association,” Ms. Kress said. “I have been involved with corporate restructuring insolvency for the majority of my career, and look forward to working closely with the rest of the Committee on furthering the study of, and developing practical solutions for, matters pertaining to the bankruptcy system.”
Previously, Ms. Kress served as Chair of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section for the 2014-2017 term.
Ms. Kress concentrates her practice in corporate restructuring insolvency and bankruptcy matters, and has 31 years of experience in representing debtors, creditors’ committees, secured creditors, trustees and individual creditors and parties in interest, both as lead counsel and as co-counsel in out-of-court workouts and in bankruptcy courts in the Eastern District of Michigan, the Western District of Michigan, the District of Delaware, the Southern District of New York and in other bankruptcy courts in the United States. Ms. Kress has extensive experience representing secured creditors in federal receivership actions.
