Pepper Hamilton Closes Two of the Biggest Deals in Philadelphia's Tech Sector
Strategic Acquisitions Show Momentum in Region’s Technology and Emerging Growth
In one of the most significant transactions in the recent history of the Philadelphia technology community, Pepper Hamilton represented iPipeline, one of the most prominent tech companies in the Philadelphia region, in its sale to San Francisco private equity firm Thoma Bravo, LLC. iPipeline is a provider of cloud-based software solutions for the life insurance industry.
iPipeline was represented by lead attorney Christopher S. Miller, chair of Pepper Hamilton’s technology group, as well as Barry M. Abelson, Joan C. Arnold, Jonathan A. Clark, Michael J. Crumbock, Timothy J. Leska, Patrick J. Bianchi, Michael A. Kadlec, Jeremy I. Levy, Joseph F. Murphy and Peter Wakiyama.
In another significant transaction earlier in 2015, Miller and a Pepper team represented Conshohocken wealth-planning software maker eMoney Advisor in its acquisition by mutual fund behemoth Fidelity Investments. Pepper has represented both iPipeline and eMoney for several years.
“Deals like iPipeline and eMoney are growth catalysts for the Philadelphia technology community,” Miller said. “These transactions provide concrete evidence that highly successful tech companies can be founded, funded and sold right here in the Philadelphia region. Pepper is proud to have been a part of the growth and successful exits of both iPipeline and eMoney, as well as a strong supporter of many of the rising stars in the Philadelphia technology space.”
