The future of the relationship between Great Britain and the rest of the European Union and the United States following the “Brexit” has been the hottest topic of conversation in the business and legal worlds over the last few weeks — and one of the EU’s top officials recently spoke on the issue at an event in Pepper’s New York office.
H.E. João Vale de Almeida, Ambassador of the European Union to the United Nations, delivered a candid and "off the record" view of the potential economic and political consequences in the wake of the June 23 referendum in which the United Kingdom voted to exit the EU. The ambassador also discussed the impact of the referendum on U.S. investors.
Vale de Almeida, who hails from Portugal, previously served as the EU Ambassador to the United States from 2010 to 2014 before being appointed as the Ambassador of the European Union to the United Nations in 2015.
The July 13 event was hosted by Pepper and the European American Chamber of Commerce New York (EACC-NY) in conjunction with the Association for Corporate Growth New York.
Pepper partner James D. Rosener serves as EACC-NY’s president and director of its international board.
EACC-NY is a nonprofit organization, co-founded by Pepper Hamilton, that provides its members with access to transatlantic business opportunities, as well as timely and relevant information, resources and support on matters affecting business activities between Europe and the United States.
