Matthew J. Lund Appointed President of the Court Historical Society for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan and Vice President of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association

Matthew J. Lund, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP, has been appointed as President of the Court Historical Society for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan for a two-year term beginning May 1, 2018 and Vice President of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association which began September 1, 2017.

As president of the of the Court Historical Society for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, Mr. Lund will lead the organization to preserve the history of the court and the men and women associated with it. Formed in 1992, the society seeks to promote an awareness of its past and its historical significance. 

Mr. Lund has also begun his term as Vice President of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA). Mr. Lund was previously the Treasurer.  The Federal Bar Association is recognized as the professional organization for private attorneys, government lawyers and judges involved in federal practice. The FBA is dedicated to promoting the welfare, interests, education and professional development of all attorneys in federal practice. Members are drawn from all aspects of federal practice: attorneys practicing in small to large law firms, attorneys in corporations and federal agencies, and members of the judiciary.

Mr. Lund is a member of Pepper Hamilton’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group and head of the firm’s litigation practice in Michigan. He serves on the firm’s Finance, Pro Bono and Contributions committees. Mr. Lund’s practice covers a diverse breadth of complex civil litigation matters, with particular emphasis on federal court litigation. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, including federal securities disputes, complex contract and business tort claims, and federal CERCLA and state law environmental matters. Mr. Lund received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (1993) and B.A. in political science from the University of Michigan (1990).
