Kassem L. Lucas, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP, was recently selected as one of the recipients of the 2011 Pennsylvania Multicultural Award from the National Diversity Council (NDC). The award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated leadership excellence in their field. Mr. Lucas was recognized at the NDC’s second annual Pennsylvania Diversity and Leadership Conference on September 22 at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Individuals from Pepper Hamilton in attendance at the luncheon recognizing the awardees included James T. Giles, retired U.S. District Court Judge and of counsel to the firm, partner Isla L. Long, and associates Desa L. Burton, Matthew D. Janssen, Joshua A. Roper, Nefertiri R. Smarr, John Shasanmi and Keely James Stewart.
Mr. Lucas concentrates his law practice in complex commercial litigation, reinsurance law and arbitration, insurance counseling and insurance insolvency. In 2011, he was named Pepper Hamilton’s Partner in Charge of Diversity. He also co-chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee and is a member of the firm’s Associates Committee. Mr. Lucas’ responsibilities include developing strategic initiatives to recruit, support, retain and promote attorneys from diverse backgrounds, maintaining diversity and inclusion as core values of the firm, and seeking opportunities to partner with the community and clients on diversity initiatives and business development.
Mr. Lucas is a 2000 graduate of Temple University School of Law. He received his B.A. in psychology from Yale University in 1994.
