John W. Carroll Appointed Co-Chair of Shale Energy Law Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association
Pepper Hamilton partner John W. Carroll has been appointed Co-Chair of the Shale Energy Law Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA). Mr. Carroll’s one-year term began on May 8, 2015 and will conclude at the 2016 PBA Annual Meeting. Mr. Carroll recently completed a two-year term as Chair of the Environmental and Energy Law Section of the PBA.
The Shale Energy Law Committee is tasked with keeping members of the bar apprised of developments within the field of shale energy law by fostering communications and facilitating education for both attorneys, through CLE programming, and the public, through participation in community programs. The committee also monitors legislative developments and/or makes recommendations concerning legislation and regulations affecting such interests.
Mr. Carroll is co-chair of the firm’s Environment and Energy Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Sustainability, CleanTech and Climate Change Team. Mr. Carroll joined Pepper in September 1987, after serving three years as chief counsel of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (DER). His current environmental practice involves litigation, counseling, transactional representation and government relations.
