Evelyn J. Meltzer Selected as an IWIRC 2016 Founders Award Honoree
The International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) announced the recipients of its 2016 Founders Awards. Evelyn J. Meltzer, a partner in Pepper's Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group, will be awarded the Melnik Award for exceptional contributions by an IWIRC member at the 13th Annual Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, April 14, 2016.
The Melnik Award, named for IWIRC founding chair Selinda Melnik, is awarded to a member who has made an exceptional contribution to the organization. IWIRC notes that, "as a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization, the work of our volunteers is what fuels our growth and expansion. Those members who have gone above and beyond while maintaining their busy professional and personal lives are who embody this award."
Ms. Meltzer was selected for the Melnik Award based on her significant and long-lasting contributions to IWIRC. She is the vice regional programming director for IWIRC and the founder and chair of the IWIRC at the Shore conference, the first regional IWIRC conference, which just completed its fourth year. The event, which attracts IWIRC members from the six target networks of New York, New Jersey, Greater Philadelphia, Delaware, Greater Maryland and Washington, D.C., as well as IWIRC members from across the country, offers networking, educational activities and social events in an effort to build relationships and enhance knowledge of insolvency and restructuring issues.
Ms. Meltzer's efforts with respect to IWIRC at the Shore have been instrumental in opening the door to a broader discussion and focus on regional event planning within IWIRC, thereby providing IWIRC members with additional opportunities for growth and expansion of their personal and professional networks. As one of her nominators noted, "Evelyn's tireless efforts in growing IWIRC at the Shore demonstrate that she is an exceptional leader who thinks outside the box and can solve any problem. Her commitment to IWIRC is unparalleled, and I am beyond proud to have Evelyn as a mentor in the restructuring industry and as a friend."
Ms. Meltzer is the immediate past chair of the IWIRC Delaware network and remains an active member of the Delaware board and an avid supporter of the Delaware network. She also previously served as a member of the IWIRC awards committee.
