Joseph V. Del Raso Interviewed by Fox News and ABC News About MTV's Jersey Shore
Monday, February 01, 2010
Pepper partner Joseph V. Del Raso, who serves as president of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), was interviewed recently by Fox News, ABC News and other media outlets regarding NIAF's objections to "Jersey Shore," the MTV "reality" show featuring the exploits of eight young men and women sharing a summer house in Seaside Heights, NJ. NIAF and many other Italian-American groups say the show is offensive and perpetuates negative stereotypes about Italian-Americans.
"Italian Americans are the largest ethnic group in the Garden State and their contributions to New Jersey and the United States are considerable," Mr. Del Raso said. "New Jersey has produced prominent Italian Americans such as Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr., General Raymond T. Odierno and Bruce Springsteen. MTV should make a program about that instead."
