New York, NY – November 7, 2012 – Pepper Hamilton LLP today announced that Jason Lichter has joined the firm as Director of Discovery Services and Litigation Support. In this capacity, Mr. Lichter will develop and implement strategies to ensure that the firm’s clients receive the highest quality discovery and litigation support services in a cost-effective and defensible manner. Mr. Lichter also will advise colleagues and clients on how to best leverage the latest technologies and e discovery tools to efficiently guide matters from initial document preservation and collection to production and eventual presentation at trial.

Scott Green, chief executive officer of Pepper Hamilton, emphasized the increasing attention clients have paid to the e-discovery phase of complex litigations. “Given the seemingly endless upward trend in data volumes, Jason’s focus on managing e-discovery costs while delivering superior results to our clients is more important than ever,” said Green.

Having previously served as senior counsel and East Coast lead in the E-Discovery and Information Governance practice of an Am Law 100 firm, Mr. Lichter has experience on such varied topics as the implementation of e-discovery readiness action plans, vendor RFPs, defensible approaches to preservation, forensic and reasonably tailored data collections, cloud-based and structured data considerations, efficient and cost-effective document filtering and review strategies (including technology-assisted review), and quality control techniques.

“As evidenced by the firm’s hiring of a business-minded CEO, Pepper’s forward-looking commitment to delivering legal services was very attractive, especially given the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies in the e-discovery space,” Mr. Lichter said. “Particularly in light of the recent addition of The Freeh Group to Pepper’s already robust investigations practice, the need to provide creative solutions to the document review dilemma through the application of advanced technology, selective outsourcing, and quality control processes is paramount.”

A frequent speaker and writer on e-discovery trends and developments, Mr. Lichter is an advisor to the board of the Metro New York Chapter for the Association of Litigation Support Professionals, a member of the Sedona Conference’s Working Group 1 on Electronic Document Retention and Production, a member of the Electronic Discovery Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, and a member of the American Bar Association’s E-Discovery and Digital Evidence Committee. In 2009, he was named a “Future Star” by Benchmark Litigation: The Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys.

Mr. Lichter graduated cum laude from Yale University in 2000 and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2004.
