Speaker: Tracey E. Diamond

Pepper Hamilton attorney Tracey E. Diamond will be speaking at the Institute for Human Resources’ Benefits: Cost Containment, Audits & Legal Risk Virtual Workshops taking place August 8-9, 2011. Ms. Diamond will co-present the webinar “Common Wage and Hour Mistakes and How to Avoid Them” with Susan McCann, director of human resources for Samaritan Hospice, on August 8 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon EDT.

Employers often struggle with wage and hour issues, such as break times, meal periods, vacation and personal time and payroll deductions. In addition, while many employers have turned to independent contractors and temporary employees to save costs, the improper classification of employees has become one of the hottest areas of government enforcement of wage-and-hour laws. This presentation will summarize the numerous conflicting and confusing tests as to “Who is an employee?” It also will give tips on how to avoid common wage and hour mistakes.
