On July 16, 2015, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a notice and request seeking information on the role of marketplace lending in the financial services industry. The request, which poses 14 detailed questions to marketplace participants, discusses the positive impact of marketplace lenders. Treasury's questions, however, have raised concerns from lenders, platform providers, investors and other marketplace participants about the future scope and direction of government regulation of the industry.
Join Pepper partners Julia D. Corelli, Richard P. Eckman and Gregory J. Nowak for a special summer edition of Pepper's roundtable series to discuss the Treasury Department’s request, as well as its implications for marketplace
lenders. As always, networking and cocktails/hors d’oeuvres will be included.
Topics will include:
-
Overview of Treasury’s request and its questions
-
The impact of government intervention in or regulation of the industry
-
Comments to Treasury.
Pepper is in the process of developing comments to Treasury’s request and it is important we take your views into account and present a comprehensive compilation of the industry’s thoughts and concerns.
