Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) presents a special roundtable discussion on “Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)” to be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. (IST) at Hotel My Fortune, Chennai Cathedral Road, Chennai 600 086. Pepper Hamilton is a Knowledge Partner.
FCPA and compliance risk management continue to rise and be one of the foremost legal issues facing businesses with a U.S. nexus. Enforcement is at its highest and cases of non-compliance are abundant across the world, befalling giants like Walmart and others who are very active in the U.S.-India corridor. It has become extremely important to gain an understanding on the responsibilities/liabilities of officers and directors under U.S. laws and gain an understanding on the FCPA and the safeguards to be kept in mind to ensure compliance with the applicable U.S. laws. This discussion will highlight liability issues for officers and directors under U.S. laws as well as recent enforcement trends under the U.S. FCPA.
The roundtable will feature James D. Rosener, partner and chair of Pepper Hamilton’s International practice, and Valérie Demont, partner and chair of Pepper Hamilton’s U.S.–India practice, who will initiate the discussion and speak on the issues, which will then be followed by a panel discussion. Pepper Hamilton is at the forefront of providing the full set of legal, investigative, due diligence and compliance advice on these issues through its White Collar practice group.
