In a highly regulated and expanding industry, Pepper focuses on helping health care clients overcome challenges and meet their business goals.
Health care providers and related businesses operate in one of the most highly regulated industries in the nation, in which conventions are constantly changing and becoming more complex. Changes in regulations and business practices brings many challenges, but also creates opportunities, as legislative and regulatory actions alter the business models of insurers, providers, and companies that interact with providers on a number of levels.
Our health care clients include for-profit and nonprofit hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), specialty hospitals, outpatient medical care and diagnostic centers, physician groups, long-term care organizations, retail and long-term care pharmacies, research institutions and laboratories, contract research organizations (CROs), medical suppliers, and group purchasing organizations (GPOs). Among other issues, we assist for-profit health care entities in surviving (and thriving in) the current disruption in the health care marketplace caused by ongoing legislative and regulatory changes.
Our work includes:
In all of these areas, we use our thorough familiarity with complex regulatory issues under federal and state laws to help clients achieve their goals. Our Health Sciences Department leverages the experience and skill of nearly 500 colleagues in related areas of the law, from antitrust to zoning.
Our work in these areas extends to representing clients in litigation, as needed. We often partner with the firm’s Technology and IP Transactions; Antitrust and Competition; White Collar and Corporate Investigations; Construction Law; Sustainability, CleanTech and Climate Change; and Labor & Employment practice groups, to provide our health care clients with comprehensive services.
